SBL Volunteers of the Year
Congratulations to the 2026 SBL Guild Volunteers of the Year, Paula Gordon and Susie Hay. Awards were presented at the annual Guild Volunteer Luncheon on April 24, 2026.
Paula is a warm-hearted and creative volunteer whose impact reaches far beyond the Regional Cancer Center. She founded the Knitted Knocker program and created innovative solutions like fidget sleeves, always thinking outside the box to meet patients’ needs. Paula is incredibly reliable, stepping in to help or train whenever needed, and approaches every task with a positive, can-do attitude.
Susie Hay is a compassionate and dedicated volunteer with a deep commitment to the Regional Cancer Center. She is a strong leader who has helped train and organize volunteers, contributing to the development of the volunteer handbook. Susie is highly attentive to detail, often noticing when patients may need extra care and alerting staff when necessary. Her warm smile, upbeat personality and genuine compassion are felt by both patients and staff, who deeply appreciate her presence.
