Advanced Wound Center

An integrated approach to non-healing wounds

OUTPATIENT - A Department of Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center

At Sarah Bush Lincoln Advanced Wound Center we realize that non-healing wounds are serious and can lead to unnecessary scarring, infection, gangrene and even loss of limb. They can also affect you emotionally, as they hamper your health and negatively impact your quality of life. Don’t let your wound slow you down any longer.

We surround you with a multidisciplinary team of wound care specialists, advanced therapies and all the support you need in our new, advanced facility. Our integrated approach not only focuses on the physical aspect of your condition, but takes into consideration that those who suffer from chronic wounds are also impacted by decreased mobility, an inability to work and an increased dependency on others.

As a comprehensive, multidisciplinary program, we offer the most advanced wound care therapies available — including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which is proven to radically speed the healing process. Our experts are specially trained in wound care, and will work as a team to create an individualized treatment plan to safely return you to the health and mobility you deserve.

Sarah Bush Lincoln Advanced Wound Care recognized with National President's Circle Award for Excellence in Wound Healing.

This Center has achieved patient satisfaction rates higher than 92 percent and a healing rate of at least 91 percent in less than 30 median days to heal, for a minimum of two consecutive years. The Center was awarded this prestigious honor by Healogics, the nation's largest provider of advanced wound care services. Out of 413 eligible Centers, 29 were honored with this award nationwide. The award is named for Dr. Robert A. Warriner III, a pioneer in wound care and the former Chief Medical Officer for Healogics.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment

The most effective treatment for non-healing wounds.

The Sarah Bush Lincoln Advanced Wound Center features the latest technology in Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment (HBOT). HOBT is an adjunctive treatment in which the person breathes 100 percent oxygen while enclosed in a pressurized chamber of greater-than-normal atmospheric pressure.

While breathing pure oxygen, the blood plasma becomes saturated, carrying 15 to 20 times the normal amount of oxygen to the body’s tissues. The ultimate result is that the body’s natural wound-healing mechanisms, which are oxygen dependent, are able to function more efficiently.

The Sarah Bush Lincoln Advanced Wound Center is equipped with two hyperbaric oxygen chambers.

Treatments typically last up to two hours. A two-way communication system built into the chamber allows the person receiving care and the care team to stay in constant contact. Also, those receiving treatment may choose to watch television during the course of their treatments.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment

Treatment Program

Leading-edge, effective treatments.

To begin your path to healing, you’ll first undergo a thorough diagnostic exam and medical history review to identify your wound type, its severity and the underlying cause.

Then, your wound will be treated with advanced, proven techniques to facilitate the healing process. Our hyperbaric oxygen therapy, is one of the most effective treatments for non-healing wounds. To better serve your needs, we also offer:

• Infectious disease management
• Physical therapy
• Vascular evaluation
• Laboratory evaluation
• Nutritional management
• Pain management
• Diabetes education
• Nuclear medicine
• Radiology
• Debridement

We look forward to getting you back on your road to recovery — and to your daily life.

Once a treatment plan has been initiated, you will visit the Center on a regular basis for wound care. You will be instructed on how to administer your own wound care at home between visits, as well as how to protect your wound from further complications. You are the most important part of your healing process. Keeping appointments and following directions clearly are critical to attaining a positive healing outcome.

The Sarah Bush Lincoln Advanced Wound Center can be reached Monday through Friday at 217 238-4850.
