SBL Honors Employees at 2019 Recognition Banquet

Lab Assistant Levi Slaughter Awarded SBL’s Annual Bravo! President’s Award

May 8, 2019 9:54 a.m.

  • Levi Slaughter is presented with SBL’s Bravo! President’s Award by SBL President and CEO Jerry Esker.

Sarah Bush Lincoln recently recognized more than 350 employees upon reaching milestone years of service to the Health System at the annual Bravo! Dedication Banquet.

Lab Assistant Levi Slaughter was awarded Sarah Bush Lincoln’s annual Bravo! President’s Award for going above and beyond to ease the fears of a special needs child during a blood draw. The child’s mother was extremely grateful for the compassionate care and wrote the following letter recognizing Slaugher:

“Levi treated my son with the most dignity and respect I have ever seen firsthand. Levi spoke directly to my son and explained every detail of his actions. While performing the venipuncture, he was educating my son on some information concerning blood draws. My son did not cry, did not yell and most of all he trusted Levi and cooperated throughout the entire procedure. Upon our exit, Levi gave my son a high five. That extra time Levi took left a lifetime impression on my son and laid his anxiety and fear to rest.”

The President’s Award is the highest honor an employee can receive and is part of an employee recognition program, which underscores the standards of excellence in the Health System. Nominees should demonstrate exceptional customer service, or contribute above normal job expectations, that reflect Sarah Bush Lincoln’s mission and values.

The annual recipient is selected from one of four quarterly winners chosen throughout the year and is announced at the annual Bravo! Dedication Banquet. Other quarterly President’s Award nominees included: Amanda Freeman, Bryon Saathoff and Jessi Bergfeld.
