Sarah Bush Lincoln celebrated its 30th annual Golf Benefit, reaching net proceeds of more than $60,000 and attracting 282 golfers on June 14 at Meadowview Golf Course. Funds raised will support construction of the new Outpatient Surgery Center on Sarah Bush Lincoln’s main campus.
“We are extremely grateful for the generosity of our sponsors and the enthusiasm of the golfers,” Kim Lockart, Health Foundation special events officer, said. “It is especially rewarding to share with them that they are responsible for record net proceeds raised at this year’s 30th annual golf outing.” Lockart extended a special thank you to this year’s title sponsors: BSA LifeStructures; Coles-Moultrie Electric Cooperative; First Mid; First Mid Insurance Group; Hinshaw & Culbertson, LLP; Dale & Marilyn Hoots; and McCarthy Building Companies.
A $200 cash prize was awarded to the top teams in each flight with the K. Wohltman Construction team of Ben Koester, Jake Pals, Derek Rohlfing, and Doug Wohltman winning the morning round; and the Card’s Appliance team, that included Amy Card, Chuck Card, Blaine Crews and Logan Murphy, winning the afternoon round.
Back this year was a long drive challenge in which players could make a donation to the Outpatient Surgery Center by having Mick Yelovich, eight-time long drive world championship qualifier, hit their tee shot. By donating, the golfer then qualified for a Pebble Beach golf package for four if it went in the hole on the second shot. Unfortunately, no one won the challenge, however Yelovich, who represents Charity Golf International, generated an additional $4,000 in donations for the Outpatient Surgery Center.
Prizes were awarded to winners on 14 of the 18 holes. Winners and prizes were: Seth Reedy, a smoker/grill and barbeque basket; James Pratt, four St. Louis Cardinals tickets; Ed Strader, four rounds of golf at Charleston Country Club, a Yeti bottle and Blueberry Lemonade Moonshine; Jake Bushue, an Apple Watch; Jessica Drake, two Chicago Bulls tickets; Kyle Koerting, four rounds of golf at both Lakeshore Golf Course and Meadowview Golf Course, and a Callaway Opti-Dri golf shirt; Doug Blume, a seven-day vacation package; Blaine Crews, four St. Louis Cardinals tickets; Chad Strader, two complete Heart-to-Heart screens, a $100 Effingham Performance Center Certificate, a $20 TGIF Friday’s certificate and a My Pillow Classic pillow; Al Corwin, two Nascar tickets and pit pass; Kristy Hutton, four rounds of golf at Mattoon Golf & Country Club and a $25 Witt’s Smokehouse gift card; Doug Wohltman, four St. Louis Cardinals tickets; Nate Shupe, $500 cash; and Tom Lawrence, a Nexgrill Black Top grill, a $100 Morgan’s Meat Market certificate and a six-piece Grand River Tools knife set. Seventeen additional prizes, ranging in value from $155 to $600, were awarded to golfers in a random drawing.
There were three hole-in-one challenges with the chance to win a RTV Kubota, sponsored by Niemeyer Kubota; winner’s choice on a two-year lease of either a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado or a 2019 Chevrolet Colorado, sponsored by Diepholz Chevrolet; and a $10,000 cash prize sponsored by First Neighbor Bank. No one won any of the hole-in-one challenges. Leo Kemper was the winner of this year’s raffle drawing, a seven-day vacation package to a destination of choice, sponsored by KC Summers Toyota Nissan Buick GMC.
