Lincolnland Hospice Gears Memory Day for Kids May 9

April 30, 2015 9:16 a.m.

Lincolnland Hospice is hosting its 16th annual Memory Day, a program geared toward children who have experienced the death of a loved one.

Memory Day is set for 10 a.m., Saturday, May 9, outside Entrance A of Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. Participants should meet in the lobby of Entrance A. Memory Day will give children a way to pay tribute to special people or pets who have died. Children will plant flowers in a garden near the Main Entrance of the Health Center and the group will release a dove. Light refreshments will be served.

Dawn Macke, Memory Day coordinator, said, “This special day is for all children who have lost someone close to them, not only for those whose loved ones used Lincolnland Hospice services. Oftentimes we overlook a child’s need to grieve and to remember someone special to them.”

For more information about SBL bereavement services or Memory Day, please call Dawn Macke at 1-800-454-4055. There is no charge to participate in Memory Day; however, adults are asked to stay with children during the program.
