Imo's Café and Peace Meal Partner in Nutrition Program

September 18, 2014 10:26 a.m.

Seniors will be able to enjoy a congregate lunch program in Farmer City through Peace Meal Senior Nutrition.

Beginning Monday, Oct. 6, “The Ticket to Quality” will be available in Farmer City at Imos’ Café. Peace Meal Regional Supervisor Barb Seagren said, “This is an innovative way to improve nutrition, offer seniors greater flexibility, while supporting a local business. While a restaurant setting is not your traditional Peace Meal nutrition site, it can help extend the benefits that have been enjoyed by those who participate in senior nutrition programs.”

She explained that the program is open to anyone 60 years of age or older, however, interested seniors must register with Peace Meal. Once registered, they can purchase meal tickets in packets of five tickets. Tickets are used to order from the special Peace Meal menu during the restaurant’s regular business hours. This is for dine-in participants only.

When placing the meal order, participants will sign and date the back of the ticket and give it to the wait staff. The gratuity, based on $7 per meal, is not included.

Peace Meal Site Supervisor Krystal Reynolds will be available from 9 to 11 am on Tuesday and Thursdays at the Santa Anna Township Building for participants interested in learning more about the program, registering for it and purchasing tickets.

“We are really excited about this new partnership and program and this innovative way to serve seniors. We couldn’t do it without the Imo’s Café,” Seagren said.
