Taste of Trager Offered Free April 19

April 5, 2013 8:17 a.m.

Community members can learn more about The Trager Approach, a massage therapy technique, by having a free mini massage on Friday, April 19.

Sarah Bush Lincoln Massage Therapist Elizabeth “BJ” Quast, who is a certified Trager practitioner, will provide the free mini massages on a walk-in basis from 8 am to 5 pm, in Prairie Pavilion 2, Suite 102 on the Sarah Bush Lincoln campus.

The Trager Approach uses extremely gentle, non-intrusive, natural movements that help free the body of tension. The effect is calming, supportive and deeply relaxing. No oils or lotions are used and the client may be fully clothed.

Trager therapy is based on the theory that discomfort, pain, and a reduced range of movement are physical symptoms caused by accumulated tension. This tension may be the result of trauma, weak posture, fear, emotional blockages, and/or stress. The feelings of lightness, openness, and peace that the Trager technique induces are believed to resonate throughout the nervous system. Not only does this ease tension, but it also changes your unconscious mental and physical experience of movement to one of pleasure rather than pain.

The Trager approach has been found to be particularly useful for chronic neuromuscular ailments, such as back and neck pain, as well as stress-related conditions, such as headache. Today the Trager Institute is the only international organization providing certification in Dr. Trager’s method. There are currently some 400 Trager practitioners in the United States.

For more information, contact Quast at 258-2530.
