July 27, 2012 10:57 a.m.

A new slate of officers was elected at the June meeting of the Sarah Bush Lincoln Board of Directors.

Those serving as officers on the Health System board of directors include: Scott Lensink, chairperson; Michael Smith, chairperson elect; Jill Nilsen, Ph.D., immediate past chairperson; Jeanne Dau, Secretary; and Steve Wente, treasurer.

Those elected to serve on the Health Center board of directors include: Laurel Allenbaugh, Lyla McGuire, Jill Nilsen, Ph.D., Michael Stanfield and Scott Wilson.

Those new to the Health Foundation board of directors include Scott Bland, Tony Sparks and Wade Bradley. William Perry, Ph.D., was elected to the Health Management Services board of directors.

In other business, the board approved the budget for the new fiscal year, which began in July. The budget includes a projected 3.3 percent operating income of $6,701,197, and a 5 percent price increase in hospital services, while there was no increase in physician and mid-level practitioner fees. Most fees are determined by insurance company contracts so the Health Center will see about 1 percent of the price increase in actual revenues.

In the new budget employees will receive a 2 percent across-the-board increase, while selected positions received a market adjustment to keep salaries in the mid-range. It approved a capital program totaling $11,385,255. Some of the larger items include CT/PET scanner, ultrasound machine, speech recognition software used in dictation, data storage equipment, signage improvements, radiology software upgrades, and cardiac monitors.

In other business, Tim Ols, president & CEO explained to the board the series of listening sessions that are planned for the summer and fall, in which segments of the local population are asked for their input into the Health Center’s planning process.

The board received an update on the Master Facility Plan progress. Construction is ongoing on the third floor, as dry wall has been hung in the new private rooms to be open in February. Two East opened to accommodate construction on the fourth floor. The ambulance garage has been demolished to make room for the ER expansion, and demolition has been complete and the wall erected for the recovery room in Surgery.
