Program/Service Notes:
WHAT IS CEFS ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY CORPORATION? CEFS is a not-for-profit Community Action Agency incorporated in 1965 to help people achieve their full individual and economic potential. We serve the seven Illinois counties of Christian, Clay, Effingham, Fayette, Montgomery, Moultrie, and Shelby. We develop, implement, and evaluate social service programs to assist economically and socially disadvantaged people in their quest for greater self-sufficiency. WHAT TYPES OF PROGRAMS AND SERVICES DOES CEFS OFFER? We offer programs as diverse as the needs of people in the communities we serve. For example, CEFS administers the Head Start Program for pre-school aged children, the Golden Circle Nutrition Program for senior citizens, and a wide variety of services for all ages in between. In everything we do, we call to mind the words of Lao Tzu, \Give a man a fish and he eats for today, teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime\". Our goal is truly to help people help themselves."
