Program/Service Notes:
Provide medical and surgical Eye Care for seniors. In order to qualify one must be: 65 or older, a citizen or legal resident, without access to an ophthalmologist in the resent past. The qualified patient is sent a letter of referral to an ophthalmologist in the local area for a medical eye examination and follow-up care for whatever condition is found. The patient's insurance may be billed. The patient is not billed. No one is turned away for lack of insurance. Those with access to care in other ways (HMO, VA
hospital, etc.) are not eligible. Nor do we provide funding for hospital costs, and anesthesiologist, medication, etc. Not an eyeglass program.
