Class content includes:  How to care for your newborn Newborn bath Circumcision and cord stump care SIDS prevention Common newborn appearances (molding, milia,    rash, etc) Tips for calming a fussy baby What you really need vs. products you can live    without Car seat safety information Car seat safety is now part of this class instead of a separate class. Information will be provided by police officers who are certified car seat technicians. You may bring your car seat installed in your vehicle and the car seat techs will assess it, ensuring that it is properly installed, and that it is the correct seat for your baby. Information will be provided by police officers who are certified car seat technicians. You may bring your car seat installed in your vehicle and the car seat techs will assess it, ensuring that it is properly installed, and that it is the correct seat for your baby. National Lung Cancer Screening Day

Rotary High School Athletic Heart Screening

Free heart screenings that include an electrocardiagram to make sure your heart is healthy, a health history, a blood draw to check ferritin levels and a physical examination. Area Rotary clubs formed a unique partnership with the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Foundation to help prevent premature deaths of seemingly healthy young athletes. Rotary clubs raise funds to provide free heart screenings to area high school athletes 15-17 years old, to uncover dangerous electrical abnormalities of the heart in addition to cardiomyopathy, an abnormality which can cause sudden death of athletes in the heat of competition. Healthy Kids Running & Reading Club

The Healthy Kids Running and Reading Club is a fitness program that uniquely combines training for a 5K race (3.1 miles) with reading an age-appropriate book, nutrition and character building lessons. The program is available to anyone who is entering 2nd-5th grade, at any fitness or reading level. This provides a wonderful opportunity for your child to learn about goal setting, developing character and staying healthy as we work towards completing a 5K race. The cost of the program is $20. Participants will receive an age-appropriate book, bag, and other class materials and free entry in the Run for the Bagel 5K. The five week program will begin the week of June 16 and will end on Saturday, July 18 after the race is complete. Infant Child CPR

Limited to 16 participants only. Fee is $5 per person. This course teaches the standards in infant child CPR from the American Heart Association and is taught by a certified CPR instructor. This course will teach parents or caregivers skills that can help save their infant or child’s life. Participants will not be certified in this course.  Nothing to bring. Oh, Baby! Express

Fee is $30 per mom and birth partner; this includes all course materials. There is a discounted rate of $15 for women on WIC or the Illinois Medical Card. Express includes all the topics from the two-week session but in a fast-paced Saturday morning session. This course is great for those whose schedules can’t accommodate the Two-Week Comprehensive, but still want to learn the essentials for delivery at Sarah Bush Lincoln. Oh, Baby! Express also makes a great refresher if this isn’t your first baby!   Class content includes:  Pregnancy discomforts and danger signs How to know when you’re really in labor Stages of labor Pain management during labor Maximizing your labor progress Common medical procedures in labor and delivery Induced and augmented labors Cesarean delivery Guided tour of the Women & Children’s Center    with one of our very own labor nurses! Bootie Kamp Infant Care Seminar

Class content includes:  How to care for your newborn Newborn bath Circumcision and cord stump care SIDS prevention Common newborn appearances (molding, milia, rash, etc) Tips for calming a fussy baby What you really need vs. products you can live without Car seat safety information Car seat safety is now part of this class instead of a separate class. Information will be provided by police officers who are certified car seat technicians. You may bring your car seat installed in your vehicle and the car seat techs will assess it, ensuring that it is properly installed, and that it is the correct seat for your baby.
